Communication Training
EMCEE TRAINING
Dates: TBA
Start/End Time: TBA
Cost: $185
Many people step into the role of emcee believing, “Anyone can do this” or “I can wing it.” But do most people really understand what rests on the emcee’s shoulders? Things like:
- Introductions
- Interviews
- Transitions
- Interruptions
- Levity when needed
- “Announcements”
- Maintaining the theme of the program
- Representing the sponsoring group/organization
- Holding together multiple facets of a program
Emceeing, if done well, takes time, energy, forethought, and even practice.
Keynote’s Emcee Training will cover 3 foundational principles:
- Seven stages of communication
- Mastering the ceremonies (as listed above)
- Discovering the ingredients of persuasion (ethos, pathos and logos)
Attendees will also have multiple opportunities to work on basic communication skills with a coach. We will do exercises like clearing the room, owning your stage, matching your gestures, facial expression and your words, mic techniques, introductions, interviews and more.
Endorsements:
“As a metro campus staff member who both speaks regularly at weekly meetings and coaches students in a variety of up-front roles, the Keynote Emcee Training Conference has been incredibly helpful. Through it, I feel like I’ve grown as a communicator, but also as someone who can train others in these very important skills. Because of this conference we have seen significant improvements in the quality of our weekly meetings, Fall Retreats, leadership trainings and our Christmas Conference. I would recommend this weekend to any staff.”
- JB Windle, Campus Ministry
“I am so thankful for Vicki and her team of speaker coaches @ Keynote! Since I only MC once or twice per year, their training is oh-so-helpful in honing skills that would otherwise be shelved. Of course, Horner is the bomb, but frankly, I learned a ton from the other coaches as well. The training was a blast too. I’ve gone to other organizations’ trainings and have been bored out of my mind. The combination of serious and silly at Keynote’s training is…well, check it out for yourself…you will not be disappointed!!!”
- Mark Meyers, Jesus Film
“Like a lot of emcees, most of my experience in the role was one of ‘on the job training.’ In other words, I was asked to emcee without any real training or expectation as to what an emcee is. The emcee conference provided me with essential perspective on what an emcee is for, as well as practical training on how to do it well from some people who have been mastering the ceremonies for a long time.”
- Lee Watkins, Campus Ministry
