Laughter Is Good for the Soul!

November 2, 2010

If you’ve ever seen David Pendleton, Keynote’s comedy ventriloquist, perform, then I’m sure you have laughed out loud. David has a wonderful gift and uses it to bring joy into the lives of prisoners, college students, executives and many, many more.

On a recent trip to Branson, MO, David performed for a conference attended by Sandra [not her real name.] After the show, she approached David to tell him how much the performance had meant to her. A few days ago, he received a letter from “Sandra” with an update of how God has been using her encounter with David to bring healing to her heart.

“Dear Mr. Pendleton,

My name is ‘Sandra.’ I spoke with you immediately after your performance at the Branson conference on Oct. 5, 2010. I had told you that since my brother’s suicide I had not laughed. I thanked you for bringing laughter back to me. You were a God send to me.

You can tell by the response of the audience that you have a gift for entertaining others. However, you need to know that God has used you to heal a broken heart. Mine. I played your [Live, in concert] DVD for my mom. She, too, began to laugh for the first time in months. It touched my heart to see my mom laugh again. To be able to escape our sorrow and pain for a little while and enjoy your DVD has been a tremendous blessing for us.

I have a date when my heart was broken. Now I have a date (Oct. 5, 2010) when my heart began to heal. I also have a name of the person who was able to open the door for healing to come into a broken heart and begin healing it. David Pendleton…

…please share with your family that when you are away from them, you are entertaining some people, sharing the salvation story with all people, and being used by God to sometimes heal hurting people.

Many, many thanks to you and thanks to your family for sharing you with us. I want to send it to [another family that experienced the same tragedy.]

…You have a God-given talent. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Most gratefully yours,

‘Sandra'”
