Summer Project 2011 Highlights

July 12, 2011

The 2011 Summer Project has come and gone. While the equipment has been put away, the students have gone home and the staff have moved on to the next project, the lasting impact of this year’s project is just beginning.

By the Numbers (Keynote and Impact combined)

  • 5 Outreach teams
  • 38 students
  • 13,700 miles traveled
  • 52 events
  • 5,033 evangelistic exposures
  • 311 people indicated a decision to trust Christ

At the final event last week many students shared about the impact the project had on their lives. For some it was a time to overcome the fear of telling others about Jesus; others wrestled with apprehension about performing in prisons; still others needed to see God move in amazing ways to deepen their understanding of His purpose. As always, God was faithful to do a work, not only the lives of our students, but also in the lives of hundreds who heard about the hope that can be found in a personal relationship with God. He offers forgiveness and a chance to begin a new life.

For the second time, Keynote hosted a film track to allow students to learn more about writing and producing films that can be used to help people understand their need for God. We had four students join us this summer under the direction of John and Pam Gaither. God did some amazing things in the lives of these students as they began to see the value of working with a team and seeing the creative process enhanced through collaboration.

The Audition, a short film about authenticity written and produced by the students, was one of the highlights of a short-film outreach they did in late June. More than 40 people came to interact with the students and view various films meant to springboard into discussion about spiritual things. Everyone was able to fill out a comment card and share thoughts about the evening as well as respond to an invitation to begin a relationship with Jesus. At least two people in the audience indicated on their card that they started that relationship with Jesus!

We look forward to seeing how God will use these students in the months and years to come. Please stop by often for more updates and watch for the official posting of The Audition on our YouTube channel soon.
