Changing Hollywood, One Connection at a Time

February 22, 2012

[Today’s post is part of a monthly series featuring Keynote alumni in their current roles.]

Background: Michele Wood served with Keynote from 1992-2000. While she began her ministry in an office role, God soon provided an opportunity for her to use her skills as a gifted violinist in Keynote’s classical trio, Counterpoint, for many years. Before leaving Keynote to pursue her current ministry in Hollywood, Michele helped launch an acoustic alternative band for Keynote called The Remnant.

After more than a decade in Hollywood, God has been opening doors for Michele to make a real difference in an industry riddled with corruption and underhanded business practices. Seeking to change the industry, Michele founded Good NewZ Media. Through holistic industry coaching, media consulting, speaking and training workshops, Michele has been building an organic grass roots infrastructure for production, marketing and distribution of excellent films and other media. “I see myself as connecting Hollywood to the church and the church to Hollywood.”

Michele recently reflected back on her years with Keynote where she learned first-hand the essentials of clear and effective communication. “Communication training at Keynote was a big part of equipping me to do what I’m doing today. Hands-on coaching and physical communication drills helped me hone skills that have been foundational to my current role.”

Michele has had countless opportunities for public speaking through her work with Hollywood Connect and now with Good NewZ Media. “I love public speaking and coaching others to more effectively articulate their vision.”

Michele also referred to the community she experienced at Keynote. Building relationships in Keynote, as well as through Keynote, helped her grow in confidence and the ability to connect with people around the world. “I am grateful for the godly character and integrity I was exposed to through Keynote … Keynote will always be like a family to me.”

As a leader of one of Keynote’s bands, Michele gained experience in aligning people to a common vision and modeling godly character. Now, as a leader in Hollywood, Michele is poised to see real change through uniting like-minded individuals and companies toward a common goal.

Michele continues to use her musical abilities to influence others and make connections in Los Angeles. She played solo fiddle with Leann Rimes for a Hollywood Benefit Concert, worked with Mary J. Blige for two concerts and a music video, participated in countless recording sessions for various artists and, for the past eight years, has served as assistant concertmaster for jazz-great David Benoit.
