Cru Blog Starter Kit
The Cru Blog template provides a customizable, social, and mobile-friendly website for your campus ministry. The website was designed by an MTL with the specific needs of a local campus ministry in mind. It makes it easy for new students, parents, and alumni to get or stay connected to your ministry, and if you have a student or staff who is experienced in web design you can make powerful design changes.
Below you will find a step-by-step guide for establishing a campus ministry’s online presence; this kit includes everything that you need to create a full-featured blog site for a campus movement.
Select one of the tutorials below based on your desired hosting option:
Twenty Eleven/Cru Child Theme
(Paid Hosting + Free Theme)
This is a full-featured version of the Cru Blog Template that uses the power of WordPress’ Twenty Eleven theme, which is the default WordPress theme and is also free. It is for those who have some website installation experience and plan on using their own hosting account.
Thesis Theme
(Paid Hosted + Paid Theme)
This is also a full-featured version of the Cru Blog Template that uses the Thesis theme, a premium theme created by diythemes.com. It includes all of the features of the Twenty Eleven/Child theme with a little more functionality for those who have a little more website building experience.
WordPress.com Option
(Free Hosting at WordPress.com)
The Cru Blog template we demonstrated at CSU can be a challenge for those with little or no website installation experience. We have provided an alternative that includes nearly all of the features but requires less set up effort and a reduced cost (no hosting is required).
GCX2 Option
(Free Hosting at mygcx.org)
This is another easy option for those with little or no website installation experience. You can setup a website that will be hosted by GCX using this template. As a bonus you get the security that is provided by GCX.
