When are the application and audition requests required?
We have just begun to accept applications for the summer of 2012. The application deadline is February 24.

May I leave project for a special event?
In light of the unique nature of the project, we typically say no. You can imagine what would happen if two people in the same band had two different dates they had to be gone; that puts the band at a disadvantage in their preparation. We are willing to discuss your special events and decisions will be made on an individual basis.

How do I raise support? What if I don’t get it raised? Will I have help?
Raising your own support is a great way to increase your faith and give people an opportunity to be part of the mission. Rarely do we run into cases where students don’t get all their money. It is truly amazing to see God provide so abundantly. If for some reason you are unable to raise all your support, we will discuss the options at that time. Our encouragement, “Pray as if it depends on God and work at it like it depends on you.”

Will you have help? Yes. We will provide you with sample letters, conversations, and ways to ask. You will also be assigned a support coach who will track with you and encourage you in the process.

Will I know where my band / film team is touring before I arrive?
Maybe. Sometimes not all the outreaches are booked prior to your arrival. You can send a tour schedule to family and friends once you arrive.

Can I get a job?
The pace and schedule for this project is intense and full. There is no time to pursue a job. If this is a concern, another summer project may suit your needs better.

Can I count my summer experience as an internship?
You need to work out the details with your professors and/or academic counselor. There are students who have worked this out in the past. Typically your professor or counselor will give you a list of requirements that we need to have. We will check to make sure that the criteria can fit into the overall schedule and will let you know if it is possible. We are confident this is clear as mud, so feel free to contact us.

What if I need to take summer classes?
If you need to take classes during the summer, it will need to be after your departure date on August 8.

Will I receive training to reach people who don’t know Christ?
Most definitely! We will look at a variety of evangelism styles. There is no right or wrong way, although some ways are more effective. We will look at different ways to proclaim the gospel and equip ourselves with listening and speaking skills that will enhance our ability to communicate effectively.

What if my parents have concerns or questions?
In all probability they will… Remember you may be familiar with CCC and you understand what we are all about. Your parents may not. You can refer them to this website. You can also contact us if you have further questions.

What is the history of summer projects?
Campus Crusade is an interdenominational Christian organization founded in 1951 with the purpose of helping to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. When Bill and Vonette Bright first launched Campus Crusade for Christ, the underlying concept was to “win the campus today and change the world tomorrow.” More than 50 years later, the mission remains the same.

Today more than 26,000 staff members and 225,000 volunteers work in more than 191 countries worldwide. We see ourselves as an extension of the local church with expertise in particular areas, working closely with pastors and churches throughout the United States and the world.

In 1965 we started our very first summer project to help a church in Ocean City, NJ reach the young people who flocked to the beach there each summer. This summer we will be sending approximately 3,500 students and staff members to 150 summer projects around the world! Every year our summer projects involve American students, recent graduates, lay people, and full-time Campus Crusade staff members.

Keynote, the music and creative arts ministry of CCC, became a summer project choice in 1994. Since then we have continued to grow and expand our summer options.

How does the acceptance process work?
Keynote’s Summer Project acceptance process is slightly different than other projects. Why you ask? Although our project is based on the standard criteria of spiritual and emotional maturity; we obviously have another standard for music and filmmaking skills as well.

There are two steps in our acceptance process. The first step is the application. This is the same application that your friends fill out for any other summer project (North Myrtle, East Asia, Brazil, San Diego, Ocean City, etc). The second step is the audition material we ask of you. You can find these instructions here:
     Social Media
     Short Film
     Music

NOTE: Music Track applicants – The acceptance process is a tad bit longer than the other two tracks. Your audition materials will be reviewed and evaluated by musicians on staff at Keynote and they’ll pass on their evaluations to the Project Directors. These evaluations are taken into consideration along with your application. We cannot effectively place the right people into the right bands until all the auditions have been evaluated and prayed over. We need to review ALL the audition evaluations AND applications before making our decisions about who will be accepted to the music track.
