A 40 Day Spiritual Journey to a More Generous Life changed much of my perspectives on stewardship! Of course, the obvious lesson like “God owns everything and we are simply stewards” was there, but so much more.
I found myself challenged to consider giving not just out of financial resources, like paychecks and bonuses, but out of blessings and assets. The author, Brian Kluth, and his wife sit down each week and write down all of the blessings the have received that week – a dinner, tickets to a show or other gifts. Each item receives a value and from that value, they give. Pretty cool idea. Honestly, I had sort of forgotten that idea until my sister mentioned it again recently.
As I continue on this journey, I realize anew, we can never out-give God. Truly, our blessings, as well as our finances come from Him. I don’t ever want to get to a place in my stewardship journey where I think I’ve arrived. This journey really doesn’t have a “finish line” this side of eternity. There is always more to learn…
