2011 Film Team - Keynote Summer Project

2011 Keynote Summer Project Film Team

Earlier this week, the 2012 Keynote Summer Project and Impact Summer Mission students arrived in Indiana ready for an exciting summer of seeing God work in them and through them.

In addition to our music performance track, Keynote is again offering a film track for students to learn more about writing, producing, filming and editing short films that can be used to start spiritual conversations.

We are really proud of the work our Summer Project film students are doing each year-

  • The 2008 short Wreck won Best Story at the UCLA Film Festival
  • The 2011 short The Audition very recently won Best Actor and Best Visual Effects at the Western Kentucky University Film Festival

Not only are the films winning awards, but God is using them to touch the lives of people around the world. When Wreck was shown in East Asia to a group of students learning English, it led to spiritual conversations between the teacher and the students. In Maryland an actor heard about Wreck, watched it on his laptop with his Jewish friend, and ended up having a great spiritual conversation as a result.

And last fall, Caleb, the director of The Audition decided to host a short film outreach on his campus. His fiancée’s sister decided to attend the film showing and sent this to us recently about the life-changing impact of the film.

“The Audition” did in fact change my life.

I was struggling with my faith and the party scene when I came back to college my sophomore year here at State. When Caleb decided to show the video for all of us, it was perfect timing. Kind of a God thing I like to call it…. After that night, I knew that’s where God was calling me-to jump into faith and become his follower.

So I left my party scene and I jumped into getting to know God personally. I started getting discipled and actually went to TCX (the CRU winter conference in the twin cities) and became a follower there the last night of the conference. I’ve grown a lot since then and met some great people….

… I can’t thank God enough for putting him [Caleb] in my life …

Of course, the summer project is not just about the film the students write and produce or the concerts the bands perform. The students are going through their own life change during their summer experience. Three of the students from last summer saw God do so much in their lives last year, they have returned to do it all again!

As the students begin their first week of training, please be praying for how God will use them in the weeks to come to help start spiritual conversations and to introduce people to Jesus. We also ask you to pray for the students as they wrestle with the things God wants to do in them this summer.

Each day is filled with opportunities to grow their character, their relationship with God, their love for one another and their passion for people who need to know Jesus!

We’re look forward to telling you more about what God is doing this summer through these amazing students.
