After Overboard

July 8, 2013

Graduation parties and big changes flood this time of year in students’ lives. And through your partnership with Keynote, we impact the lives and spiritual formation of college students – even beyond graduation.

Purdue University’s class of 2013 includes Stephen. After graduation, he plans on finding a job as a cameraman with a news crew, building relationships with his co-workers and sharing the love of Christ with them. Before he spent last summer at Keynote, however, his plans were completely different. God used Keynote’s 2012 Summer Project to change Stephen’s heart and plans, impacting not only Stephen’s life, but the lives of the people around him.

Walking into Keynote, Stephen had set expectations about how his summer would go: be a part of Bible studies and help create and direct a short film. But instead of directing the film, entitled Overboard, he was made the cameraman. Later, he wanted to emcee the film showings; he ended up as the sound man. “I was really upset,” Stephen explained. “God used that feeling to reveal the pride in my heart. Not only did it free me up to be less preoccupied with my own success, but it also showed me that I love camera work!”

A Thousand Words

May 21, 2013

The Keynote Artists team recently wrote and produced “A Thousand Words” to connect and prompt dialogue with people who have experienced fractured relationships. In one week, the video reached over 7,500 views and has already led to some significant spiritual conversations!

We hope that you are able to use this video to start spiritual conversations of your own as you share it with your friends and family through email, Facebook, or other social media outlets.

Here’s a link you can use to share the video – http://youtu.be/fg-gDdhF9R4

Comm LabAfter months of planning, preparing and promoting, Comm Lab 2013 became a reality. Between the two week-long events, over forty people from different stages in life gathered in Westfield, Indiana. The attendees learned about topics ranging from philosophy of Christian communication to practical techniques for writing talks. They also practiced delivery skills in personalized small-group coaching sessions. Although each participant went through the same training, their motives for coming were vastly different.

For example, Collin Arledge, Trace Hunt and Jeremy Bollens have big shoes to fill. For years, the Cru movement at Texas Tech has had an outstanding public speaker serving as their team leader. But this year he was called to another ministry role, leaving these three leaders on campus with a deeply felt need to improve their speaking skills.

Keynote Golf Challenge

March 25, 2013

Each year, Keynote hosts a golf fundraising event called the Keynote 100 Dawn to Dusk Golf Challenge. Golfers attempt to play 100 holes in one day to raise money for Keynote’s ministry. Over the last 17 years, we’ve seen God raise more than $1.9 million to help start spiritual conversations about Jesus and to bring God’s message of hope and love to people in the U.S. and around the world.

Join us this year on May 6 in Dove Canyon, CA or May 20 at River Glen in Fishers, IN. Visit our newly redesigned event website for more information.

Refreshment for the Weary

March 19, 2013

What would move a college student from one of the most affluent and privileged nations the world has ever known to make missionary work the first entry on their resume?

Graduating students who take part in a year-long STINT – Cru’s acronym for short-term international – place their obedience to God’s call above every other ambition.

What they soon find is how much Americans take for granted the freedom to openly worship God. While serving overseas, many cannot worship in English or even out loud. In fact, many of these missionaries must speak and write in code when referring to Cru and God due to the closed nature of the countries where they are serving.
