Have You Downloaded God Tools?

March 15, 2011

In the fall of 2009, Randall Pahl posed a question during one of the first meetings of Keynote’s New Media Labs.

“Why hasn’t anyone designed a smart phone app for sharing the gospel?”

Smart phones like the iPhone and Android phones have touch screens with tons of readable content. What better platform for displaying content about knowing God?!

So, the idea for God Tools as born. Many months went into gathering all of the Campus Crusade tools, entering content, working with an outside vendor for designing the app and much more…

In the summer of 2010, the iPhone version was released followed by the Android version in December. In the past three months, the Android version has been downloaded more than 7,000 times in more than 90 countries including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Pakistan, Vietnam, China and Egypt.

I’m still behind the times and have what I call a “stupid phone.” But when I meet new people and notice they have an Android phone or an iPhone I often ask if they have downloaded God Tools. Who knows, one day it may even lead to an opportunity for me to use their phone to share the gospel!
